Board of Directors

Susan Taylor | acting president & events director

Cornell is a wonderful community and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the events and activities that make this area so unique. I grew up in Toronto and have lived in Cornell since 2002 with my husband, and have since had two sons.  Currently I am an active real estate salesperson serving the Markham area. My background is in marketing, events, and PR in the technology industry. My husband, our sons, our golden retriever, and I take full advantage of all that Cornell has to offer! Although I worked with the CRPA board to organize the annual Cornell Classic Golf Tournament in ’05 and ’06, I didn’t join the board of directors until May 2007. By joining, I hope to maintain and enhance the events that bring this neighbourhood together.

Lee Ann Donaldson | treasurer

I have lived in Cornell with my husband and two children since November 2004. We came to Cornell from Virginia where my husband and I owned our own business preparing tax returns and servicing our clients accounting needs. Since our arrival in Markham I have enjoyed being a stay at home mom as well as doing some part time accounting projects for my husband's company. I became a member of the CRPA in 2005, a board member in the fall of 2006 and then Treasurer in January 2007. I love being in a position to help a truly amazing community that my family loves to be a part of.

Elaine Cato | parks director

I have lived in Markham for over 20 years and in Cornell since December 2000.  I’ve been a member of the CRPA since January 2005 and became an executive member in January 2006 currently holding  the positions of Secretary (which I stepped down from in January 2010) and Director Parks. I have two adult children, and enjoy reading, travelling, volunteering.

Jeannie Daniels-Burry | secretary & membership director

I am currently your Director of Membership services and Secretary on the CRPA and have been on the board now since 2001. My family and I have had the pleasure of calling Cornell our home since 1999, and in fact were some of the pioneers in the first phase, buying into the "vision of Cornell". When I’m not manning the membership table at one of our many CRPA social events, you'll often catch a glimpse of my 'mug' in magazines, catalogues, on commercials and TV and currently as a fitness host on the Shopping Channel. You may often see me off and literally running through the streets of Cornell with one of our many running groups, as I am also big fitness buff and am a Certified Fitness trainer in the Markham area. I am proud to call my home the community of Cornell and look forward to serving the residents in this outstanding community.

Monika Jazyk | communications director

My family and I moved to Cornell in January 2006; shortly after the birth of our second son. My husband and I now have 3 boys and are so glad to live in a family oriented community like Cornell. I joined the CRPA in January 2008 and have assisted with Communications and Schools (particularly with the development of a Catholic school in Cornell). I enjoy volunteering on the CRPA immensely as I feel honoured to have the opportunity to contribute and give back to such a fantastic community!

David Hannah | planning director

I first became aware of the Cornell Community in 2005 and decided with my wife then that this was a place that we could call home. In 2007, once we were ready to buy our first house, we moved to Upper Cornell. I come from a small town in Eastern Ontario and appreciate the community feeling we have here that we have not been able to get in other places in the GTA. We just had our first child this spring and we are excited about the many aspects of this community that make it a great place for children to grow up in. My educational background is engineering and business, having completed my MBA in 2009. Although I am new to the board I am excited about planning and am eager to do what I can with this interesting portfolio.

Ralph Klingmann | sports director

Like many other residents, I grew up in Markham and moved to Cornell as soon as it opened in 1998. My wife, Anca, and I have a 9 year old daughter Alexandra and a 4 year old son Karl. I work as a Computer Programming Consultant, but many weekends I am at the race track doing timing for events such as the Toronto Molson Indy, Montreal F1 and Mosport. When I find time, I play old-timers baseball and hockey.

Waseefur Rahman

Having lived in North York for over forty years, I moved to Cornell in 2007 to join the growing family of my son. It is a wonderful community with diverse demographics. I am a professional engineer and have served the energy industry in research and technology development for over three decades, including service to North American advisory groups. I am really very happy to be a part of this wonderful growing community. I enjoy working with the CRPA board. I found it a very dedicated group. I look forward to contributing to the activities of CRPA especially in offering my humble efforts towards making this a model community.
