YRP Camera Registry Program

The police have traditionally relied on door to door canvasing to locate camera footage that may have captured important footage to assist in solving crimes. This process is time consuming, it requires the use of several officers (who must be taken away from other duties) and it can only be done during certain hours (preferably not at night). Officers often have to return to the same residence multiple times to find someone at home.

To combat these issues, York Regional Police has enacted the “Camera Registry Program”. This program can be easily accessed on our Website yrp.ca/RegisterMyCam.

Online Marketing Robberies

There have been some incidents of online marketing robberies recently. Please be as safe as possible when meeting people to purchase or sell items of value. The use of facemasks provides criminals with an added advantage they didn’t have before. There seems to have been about 5 residential entries over the 2020 holiday break. During one daytime entry, the home owner was asleep in the home.  She was not disturbed.
